Target Audience
The MSc "Applied Public Economics and Policy" aims to new graduates, but also working personel looking to upgrade their careers as specialist senior executives in the wider public sector or other organizations operating in sectors directly affected by public policy, such as banks, consultancies, foundations and NGOs.
Graduates from Economic Sciences, Business Administration or other related departments of local Universities or recognized equivalent institutions from abroad are accepted to our MSc program..
Studies
The Program has been formed based on the needs in matters of effective management of public organizations. The courses of the MSc "Applied Public Economics and Policy" are usually taught in the Greek language. The educational material used is in Greek or English. The MSC program has a duration of three (3) academic semesters.
Courses
The Program has been shaped according to the current needs, so that the content and emphasis of the Program cover the characteristics of public organizations or other organizations active in sectors directly affected by public policy, which require a mix of knowledge derived from economic science and business administration. The main aim of the Program is to provide postgraduate students with a solid foundation of knowledge and research methods, which will enable them to continuously learn and develop in their field of expertise. In order to achieve this, in addition to their lectures, in which they will present the most up-to-date scientific views on the individual subjects, the lecturers will use other teaching methods, such as case studies, applied research, computer simulations and seminar presentation of topics to enhance the acquisition of knowledge through real-world experiences.
Program Philosophy
As we enter the third decade of the 21st century, we are faced with multiple challenges. Economic, political and social inequality, climate change and diseases such as Sars-Cov-2 and HIV-AIDS are perhaps the tip of the iceberg in an ever-changing world. In this context, the executives of the public sector, but also those of the private sector and NGOs, are called upon to make decisions and to provide information and advice on issues related to public economic policy to multiple groups of people: political figures, the press, private and international Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, and even ordinary citizens in need for information and help to choose, design and implement the best possible public policies. This requires a range of skills and knowledge, the teaching of which is the purpose of the Master's program.

In order to acquire knowledge and new experiences, develop personal and professional skills and transform specific behaviors, it is necessary to participate in training programs not only from academics, but also from external partners-executives in the Public Finance sector. For this reason, the Program is supported by a very valuable scientific staff, with significant experience in the subjects taught, a factor that guarantees the high level of the learning process.
