    1 Sufficient knowledge of the Greek language is proven either by a degree or postgraduate degree from a Hellenic University or a certificate from the Teaching Department of the Modern Greek Language of the University of Athens or the School of Greek Language of the University of Thessaloniki or a certificate of at least level B2 (C') from the Greek Language Center.

    2 It is possible for letters of recommendation to be sent directly by their author to the Program Director, either in written form or electronically, to the address apep@unipi.gr. In this case, there should be a corresponding notification to the secretariat of the Department of Economics.

    PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION POLICY


    The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – EU 2016/679) came into full effect on May 25, 2018. In this context, we would like to inform you that we have renewed the conditions governing the application process to the MSc program of the University of Piraeus. The main changes concern the Protection of Personal Data, in order to meet the conditions set by the European Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – EU 2016/679).

    1. Collection and processing of personal data When submitting applications to the MSc program of the Department of Economics, personal data of applicants are collected, maintained and processed. The exact data collected are those requested by the application for nomination.

    2. Purpose of processing personal data

    The collection and processing of personal data is done exclusively for the following purposes:

    2.1. Submission and evaluation of candidacy applications
    Candidates submit a candidacy application to the MSc of the Department of Economics of the University of Piraeus and are evaluated by the Candidate Evaluation Committee, to which the details of the applications will be forwarded.

    2.2. Transmission of details of successful
    For the successful candidates, the details of their applications will be forwarded to the relevant academic and financial services of the University of Piraeus, in accordance with the provisions of the current Regulation of the MSc program. The purpose of the transmission concerns the academic and financial management of the new postgraduate students of the Department of Economics.

    2.3 Processing necessary to ensure legal interest
    The data submitted by prospective postgraduate students to the Information System will be retained and processed to the extent necessary to establish, exercise or support legal claims.

    3. Personal data retention period
    The personal data of successful graduate students are kept indefinitely.
    The applications of the candidates who were not accepted in any MSc program of the Department of Economics are deleted/erased after one (1) academic year.

    4. User Rights
    The Department of Economics of the University of Piraeus ensures the rights of prospective postgraduate students regarding the processing of their personal data and ensures the facilitation of the exercise of their rights. Candidates have the right to request:
    1. access to their personal data and information about which data we process, the purposes of the processing, the recipients and the duration of the processing,
    2. correction of their personal data in case it is inaccurate or incomplete,
    3. deletion of their personal data, if the legal conditions are met,
    4. limiting the processing of their personal data only for specific purposes,
    5. portability of their data, i.e. to receive the data they have provided in a structured, commonly used format or request their direct sending to a third party,
    6. to withdraw at any time their consent for processing of their personal data, including automated processing for profiling. In this case, their processing by us will be stopped, without this affecting the legality of any processing until the withdrawal of their consent.

    Finally, if you believe that your rights are being violated, you have the right to appeal to the Personal Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr, 2106475600).
